Business and Human Rights Initiative

In the ever-evolving global economy, business enterprises face significant challenges in complying with national and international legal obligations, particularly the protection of individual and community rights as they relate to business operations.

Using the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and other international standards, GRC assists businesses with understanding relevant corporate responsibilities, and managing business risks.

We work with companies to design and incorporate bespoke risk assessments that address potential adverse human rights impacts resulting from business operations. This includes help and support with building a responsible business model that assists with avoiding civil and criminal liabilities.

Our services also extend to States, providing assistance in designing policies, legislation and regulations that help them to fulfil their obligations to protect against adverse human rights impacts within their jurisdiction.

<li>Create policy statements in relation to a company’s specific activities to manage risks and demonstrate commitment to responsible business practices;</li>
<li>Conduct due diligence, or audits, to ensure that business operations comply with international standards, such as those pertaining to the core international legal instruments and other relevant regulations, including standards from the International Labour Organization (ILO);</li>
<li>Design internal grievance mechanisms, or complaint systems, to assist business enterprises in the event of an adverse impacts or to address complaints.</li>
